Job Overview

Permanent role for a Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6) in Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with communication, voice and swallowing disorders across community hospitals, outpatient clinics, patients’ homes and care homes.
  • Manage and prioritise own clinical workload, seeking guidance from team leads as required.
  • Supervise Speech and Language Therapy assistants and newly qualified SLTs.
  • Work autonomously within GHC policies and professional practice, maintaining accurate and comprehensive electronic records.
  • Participate in service improvement projects and attend relevant training and development.
Qualifications
  • Recognised Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists degree level qualification.
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Essential Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience in managing patients with communication and swallowing difficulties following acquired disorders.
  • Working collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams and with other professionals.
  • Ability to identify own professional development needs and develop a professional portfolio.
  • Specialist skills in differential diagnosis and targeting of clinical interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Prioritise tasks, manage time effectively and work under pressure.
