Job description
Overview

Working as part of a dedicated and skilled Therapy Services team you will be providing a holistic therapy approach to patients in an inpatient setting. There is a strong expectation to collaborate with all members of the MDT to ensure the complex needs of patients are always at the centre of your care.

A rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced physiotherapist to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic team covering busy elective and trauma orthopaedic wards.

The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills and appropriate previous experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics. You will deputise for the Team Leader in their absence and work closely with the other static B6 Physiotherapist to lead and develop the service. You will be supported by a highly specialist team leader and you will be encouraged to develop your leadership abilities.

You will join a large and friendly team, working with both elective and trauma patients. Patient groups include those with neck of femurs, polytrauma, head injuries and spinal cord injuries. Previous experience of treating spinal cord injuries is very desirable.

If you have the desire to be part of a team that will be developing Therapy Services in Milton Keynes and a strong commitment to compassionate care, we would love to hear from you. You will have opportunities to be involved in the education of the MDT, appraisal mentor and service development projects. We have a dedicated Therapy practice education team whose role is to support staff and student development. Previous experience as a Band 6 or 5 Physiotherapist is essential. An ability to demonstrate a proactive flexible approach and to be able to work well on own initiative is essential. Demonstrable skills in service development are desirable, along with a keen interest in educating fellow healthcare colleagues.

The post holder will participate in the respiratory on call rota (including weekends and bank holidays as required unless exceptions are agreed on a case-by-case basis). It is essential you have current HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist.
