Overview

The role will provide a dietetics service for patients undergoing neurorehabilitation, providing specialist nutrition support to patients recovering from neurological conditions. This will be an opportunity to work autonomously to develop the dietetic service within this speciality. The role will also provide cover to the neurosciences and trauma wards, including a variety of patients under neurology, neurotrauma, neurosurgery and trauma services. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to teaching and training for a variety of staff in the Trust. Flexibility and organisation are key attributes, along with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an evidence-based, effective and responsive dietetic service to the 8-bed neurorehabilitation service that provides Rapid Access to Acute Rehabilitation (RAAR).
  • Provide cover across the neurosciences (including neurology, neurotrauma and neurosurgery) and trauma wards.
  • Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), including attending and contributing to ward rounds, board rounds and MDT meetings.
  • Manage home enteral feeding discharges independently, liaising with all relevant specialist services to achieve this in a timely manner.
  • Plan and deliver specialist training to medical staff, nurses, students and other health care professionals.
  • Ensure that audit and quality improvement is undertaken on a regular basis.
