Key Responsibilities

As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:

  • Adapting and delivering the curriculum to meet the unique needs of pupils with SEN and SEMH challenges.

  • Providing consistent one-on-one emotional support to pupils, helping them develop self-regulation and social skills.

  • Implementing positive strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a productive learning environment.

  • Meticulously logging incidents and providing detailed feedback on pupil progress to the wider support team.

  • Working hand-in-hand with teaching assistants, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive network.

Requirements

To succeed in this position, you must possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Demonstrable experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

  • An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

  • The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

  • A compassionate, patient, and highly adaptable approach.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.

  • Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
