AECOM provides a full range of tunnelling and underground structure design and management services serving clients in the public and private sectors. We are looking for a Senior Tunnelling Engineer to work on major civil projects across the UK.

Although advertised as a full‑time role, part‑time options will also be considered.

  • London Power Tunnels
  • Pumped‑Storage schemes for electrical power generation
  • Major road tunnels
Responsibilities
  • Act as a design lead for project elements, liaising with clients and the wider design team for day‑to‑day design development, under guidance of a technical lead or mentor.
  • Manage junior engineers in the design of infrastructure elements.
  • Provide input to development of engineering budget and programme to meet requirements.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering; MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical or Tunnelling Engineering, and/or working toward professional membership.
  • Broad experience designing reinforced concrete to Eurocodes for underground structures such as secant piles, capping beams, segmental shaft linings, in‑situ concrete structural elements, D‑walls, shafts and tunnels.
  • Good familiarity of Geotechnical Engineering principles as they apply to soil‑structure interaction.
