We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Practitioner to join our Substance Misce team at HMP Whatton, a category C Prison located in Nottinghamshire. HMP Whatton is a male adult prison with a capacity of 827.

Job summary

As a Senior Substance Misuse Practitioner you will have experience working within a secure environment and must have substance misuse knowledge and experience.

Hours and salary
  • Hours: Monday - Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week (condensing over 4 days may be considered)
  • 8.30am - 4.30pm
  • Salary This position is full time. Youll receive an annual salary between £42,094 - £47,466 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Substance Misuse Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and 1-1 settings with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers.
  • Work with individuals on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information.
  • Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions.
  • Maintain a person-centred approach.
