We are looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel (maternity cover) based in London.

About The Role

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide support to our markets in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders on product, commercial, regulatory, corporate and employment issues specific to the UK transportation and ride-hailing industry ensuring compliance with local legislation, and operate with a high degree of autonomy in managing and resolving complex legal issues and projects, demonstrating advanced expertise and ownership.
  • Support the development and launch of new services, features and commercial models by advising on regulatory compliance and legal structuring, and monitor and stay up-to-date with legislative changes and gig economy trends in the UK, anticipating potential risks and advising the business on appropriate responses.
  • Lead and manage material group litigation including employment tribunal claims, commercial disputes, and regulatory investigations by unions and regulators, and must have evidence of identifying emerging risks early, advising internal stakeholders, and implementing strategies to prevent escalation.
  • Adapt to changes in assigned markets and/or specific projects, as deemed necessary by the direct manager, based on Bolt’s growth and evolving team workloads, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Tax, Regulatory, Privacy, and other teams, to provide cohesive legal and compliance advice.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including supplier contracts, and partnership agreements as well as drafting and amending Terms and Conditions, and serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, including product, business, finance, and marketing teams, ensuring alignment with business goals while mitigating legal risks.
About you
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent), with a strong background in UK commercial, regulatory or employment law, ideally within the technology or gig-economy sectors; experience in dispute resolution is a strong plus.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments (tech, platform or regulated services experience a big plus), ideally in-house.
  • Comfortable providing clear, practical legal advice to non-lawyers, demonstrating excellent judgement, drafting, and communication skills with a focus on practical and commercially sound solutions.
  • Able to balance risk and commercial realities and act as a true business partner to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across diverse teams.
  • Experience in dispute resolution is considered a strong plus.
