Job description

Senior Legal Counsel | Northamptonshire

Join a forward-thinking and mission-driven organisation that plays a pivotal role in the UK's energy and data landscape.

The Business

With a strong market presence and a focus on sustainability, innovation, and digital transformation, this business' operations impact a broad spectrum of commercial and industrial clients, making legal oversight and strategic guidance critical to continued success.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Legal and Insurance Director, you will provide expert advice on a broad spectrum of commercial and operational legal issues. From drafting and negotiating complex contracts to advising on compliance, risk, and strategic business projects, you will be a trusted advisor to the business.

The role is ideal for a commercial lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. You will work on matters involving high-value commercial transactions, regulatory compliance (including data privacy and anti-bribery), and support pre-litigation strategy where necessary. Your legal input will support commercial bids and tenders, internal training, and cross-functional collaboration with teams such as sales, procurement, finance, and HR.

This is a chance to join a close-knit and supportive team where your voice matters and your expertise will directly contribute to the company's goals. You will work on high-impact projects, gain exposure to senior leadership, and have the flexibility and autonomy to make a tangible difference in the way the business manages risk and drives growth.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer (UK) minimum least 5 years' PQE
  • Minimum of 3 years in a corporate or commercial role in private practice; in-house experience preferred
  • Strong experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, competition law, anti-bribery)
  • Desirable: experience in the technology or utilities

If you're ready to take on a role that blends strategic influence, legal depth, and business impact, this could be the perfect next step in your legal career.
