Senior Laboratory Technician

As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our Teams. We have a great opportunity for a committed Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Infrastructure Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.

We are looking for a dependable, dedicated and flexible Senior Laboratory Technician to join our UKAS accredited Geotechnical and Materials Team. As a member of the Laboratory Team it is key that you are able to thrive in a Team environment, as well as independently. The fundamental part of the role it to determine the physical properties of a wide range of materials including concrete, earthworks, aggregates and bituminous mixtures to ensure compliance with specifications. All testing will be undertaken in line with a range of British, European and American standards so a good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures is required.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

• Work effectively within deadlines
• Physical testing of construction materials i.e. compaction, density & strength
• Preparation of soils for laboratory testing (i.e. breaking down 20kg samples to pass a 20mm sieve.)

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

• Must know at least 6 Geotechnical lab tests from the BS1377/ISO17892 standards
• Excellent communication skills
• Able to work as part of a Team

Our Laboratory Testing Team perform an extensive range of testing and compliance services across a wide range of construction projects including highways, rail, airfields, ports and harbours, power stations, sports stadia in addition to new build projects across Industrial, Commercial and Residential properties.
