Job summary

The Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an innovative and friendly Foundation Trust providing a wide range of services to the local community of Hackney and specialist services on a national level. Located in the multicultural east end of London we are situated close to the heart of the capital, whilst being within easy reach of the M11 and M25.

We are looking for a senior clinical fellow to join us for, commencing in March 2025. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a doctor with an interest in critical care to develop as a clinician. The post is designed to provide a wide range of critical care experience, including attending the follow up clinic and working with a range of specialities to continue to develop critical care services within the Trust.

Previous adult critical care experience and advanced airway skills are essential for the post holder. Full registration with the General Medical Council is required at the time of application. Possession of a higher qualification is desirable, though not essential.

Responsibilities
  • To provide a clinical service on the ICU
  • To participate in a 1:7 on call rota (this may vary according to staff allocation)
  • To participate in clinical governance
  • To ensure continued development of skills and learning
  • Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient Intensive Care Medicine service
  • Provide evidence-based care when appropriate
  • Have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in national standards and the local commissioners contracts
Qualifications
Essential
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full registration with a licence to practice from the General Medical Council
  • Part 1 of FRCA, MRCP, FCEM or equivalent
  • Equivalent to CT2+ level at time of application
  • Previous adult critical care experience
  • Ability to assess, treat and stabilise the majority of critical care referrals independently
  • Completion of Initial Airway Competencies
Desirable
  • FRCA, MRCP, FCEM or equivalent
  • Member of a learned society pertinent to intensive care e.g. ICS, ESICM
  • APLS, ATLS, ALS
  • Team building skills
  • Advanced life support course instructor (ALS/ATLS/APLS)
