Overview

SEND Teaching Assistant – Post-16 Provision – North Birmingham

A welcoming post-16 provision in North Birmingham is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support young people with Autism and Moderate Learning Needs as they work towards their Functional Skills qualifications. This long-term role involves a mix of 1-2-1 and small-group support, helping students build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their goals in a calm and encouraging environment.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students aged 16–19 who may need additional guidance with communication, emotional regulation, and accessing the curriculum. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to deliver tailored support that enables each student to make meaningful progress both academically and personally. Previous experience supporting young people with SEND is essential for this role. This SEND Teaching Assistant role is Monday to Thursday 08:30 - 14:30. The provider is also happy to consider an TA for 5 days a week.

Job Role
  • Providing 1-2-1 support for learners working towards Functional Skills exams.
  • Supporting small groups of students with Autism and Moderate Learning Needs.
  • Helping students develop independence, confidence, and positive learning habits.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND colleagues.
