Overview

Are you committed and passionate about SEN Education? We are looking for the next site manager to join our established team. This is a real opportunity to make a difference for the children that we teach. Sutherland House School is a non-maintained special school for autistic children and people aged 3-19. The school is in the heart of the Creative Quarter in the City Centre. We’re looking for a dedicated, proactive, and caring Site Manager to join our school community. This is more than a job; it’s a chance to make a real difference in the lives of our students and staff by ensuring our site is safe, welcoming, and well-maintained every single day.

Purpose of the Role

To lead and manage the site services team including catering, cleaning, and caretaking, ensuring that the school environment is safe, clean, secure and suitable for the needs of autistic children and the wider school community. The postholder will have responsibility of ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations, statutory requirements and school policies across the school site.

The post holder will work with the Health and Safety lead at Autism East Midlands to ensure the site is compliant for all stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading on all aspects of health and safety across the school site
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Managing contractors and overseeing site maintenance and repairs
  • Supporting emergency planning and safeguarding procedures
  • Being a friendly, reassuring presence for staff, pupils, and visitors alike

  • Experience in site or facilities management (school experience is a bonus, but not essential)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
