The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Restorer will be responsible for working on heritage / period properties throughout London, including brick repairs and replacements, rendering and stone repairs and brick pointing in various styles such as flush and weather struck.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must reside within less than 1-hour drive from Fulham, London SW area.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and customer service skills essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working on heritage / period properties
  • 3 years of experience with brick repairs and replacements and rendering and stone repairs
  • Brick pointing experience in various styles such as flush and weather struck.
  • NVQ in Heritage Skills or equivalent preferred.
  • Membership in SPAB, IHBC, or similar professional body preferable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to authenticity
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and plans would be preferred but not essential.
  • Skilled in using both hand and power tools
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations
  • Formal training in conservation, historic preservation, or a related trade preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Brick repairs and replacements and rendering and stone repairs.
  • Brick pointing in various styles such as flush and weather struck.
  • Skilled builder working on the exterior of buildings, making repairs to parapets, flaunching's, brickwork, pointing and general repairs.
  • Inspect and assess the condition of period buildings to determine appropriate restoration methods.
  • Carry out repairs using traditional techniques, such as lime rendering and stone masonry.
  • Source and work with authentic materials that match the building's original construction.
  • Collaborate with architects, conservation officers, and historians to ensure historical accuracy.
  • Provide reports on all work carried out for records and heritage compliance.
  • Ensure all restoration work complies with safety, environmental, and heritage conservation regulations.
  • Maintain tools and equipment used in restoration processes.
