Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in the East Midlands is seeking a Respiratory and Sleep physiologist to join their team. This permanent position offers an opportunity for recent graduates of the BSc Healthcare Science Degree to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. The role will involve performing a variety of physiological investigations, conducting sleep studies, and providing clinical supervision. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in a respiratory or sleep department. The Trust is committed to diversity and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Current performance of the range of respiratory and sleep investigations.
  • Documented evidence of working as a trainee physiologist.
  • Evidence of completing respiratory physiology reports.
  • Evidence of organising own activity around other clinical commitments.
  • Evidence of ability to cope under stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic and complex respiratory physiology investigations.
  • Conduct sleep study reporting and present cases for the weekly sleep MDT.
  • Initiate CPAP, organize follow‑ups and yearly reviews.
  • Carry out administrative duties related to these roles.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to junior staff.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the continuously growing Respiratory, Sleep and NIV physiology team at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust for a Respiratory and Sleep physiologist. This is a permanent post designed to develop recent graduates of the BSc Healthcare Science Degree (respiratory and sleep option).

The post holder will mainly work at City campus but will also cross‑town to QMC campus to gain experience across all respiratory and sleep physiological measurements performed at NUH. A programme of CPD will support you in meeting the pre‑requisite requirements for higher banded roles.

Qualifications / Experience
  • BSc Healthcare Science Degree (respiratory and sleep option)

  • Ability to use own initiative when unexpected situations arise
  • Willingness and ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Physically able to move patients in wheelchairs and beds and equipment as required
  • Adaptable and flexible to start / finish times of the department to meet workload demands
