Job description

Overview

An exciting opportunity to work with the RCHT research team as a Research Doctor to support commercial research as part of the Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) for Cornwall. This post supports local Principal Investigators and their delivery teams with NIHR hosted and sponsored commercial studies across the Peninsula within acute and primary settings.

Responsibilities

• Support principal investigators in clinical duties including clinical examinations, reviewing bloods, and undertaking other clinical procedures as required.
• Recruit, consent, enrol and monitor patients to new commercial research trials in accordance with each trial protocol and the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
• Work with the delivery teams to increase the Trust’s portfolio of commercial studies and recruitment to trials, and manage safety and the effective oversight of research participants in commercial studies.
• Provide mentorship to medical students as required and work on an on-call basis as needed.
• Participate in research-dedicated clinics, potentially working alone with trial team support, in parallel with routine care clinics, or in joint clinics within acute or primary care settings.
• Collaborate with the Research Delivery Manager and Team Leaders for CRDC, Delivery Team Leaders, research nurses, administrators, facilitators, and data managers to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient trial conduct.
• Ensure compliance with the medical aspects of the protocol, particularly the prescribing and administration of drugs in line with GCP principles.
• Assist with data collection, safety assessments, trial setup, and supporting monitoring visits while ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
