Job description

We’re now recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join the quality team in the production site of a very longstanding client and stable company based in the Berkhamsted area in their site based just off of the Highstreet.

This is a global company and you’ll have the chance to join their small specialist assembly team who are responsible for helping produce high‑precision assemblies used in household products everyone would know of across the world.

You’ll be playing a key role in ensuring that all incoming and outgoing components and assemblies are up to their high‑quality standards, responsible for both goods‑in and goods‑out inspections as well as ensuring certifications are completed and maintained.

This role is an initial temporary position for at least the coming months, with the possibility of becoming temp‑to‑permanent if you’re interested in a longer‑term opportunity.

The role itself will be based fully in the Berkhamsted site and you’ll be working 8 am to 4:45 pm (Mon‑Thurs) and then a 3:30 pm finish on Friday.

What to expect day‑to‑day:
  • Goods Inwards Inspection: Perform thorough inspections of incoming materials and components, verifying physical measurements and supplier certifications against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Goods Outwards Inspection: Conduct final inspections and sign‑off of completed parts and assemblies prior to shipment, ensuring all products meet customer and company requirements.
  • Certification & Documentation: Complete and maintain First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), Certificates of Conformance (C of C's), and customer‑specific certifications as required.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support QA with conformance to the wide range of business and product regulations, such as but not limited to REACH, RoHS, PFAS etc.
  • Inspection & Test Area Management: Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant inspection and testing environment.
  • Dimensional & Visual Inspection: Carry out first‑off, patrol, and final inspections using appropriate measurement tools and techniques.
  • Document Control: Ensure traceability and control of all inspection records and documentation.
  • Quality Assurance Support: Assist with internal and external quality assurance audits, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Non‑Conformance Management: Identify, report, and document any non‑conformances in line with company NCR processes; assist with root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and drive quality improvements.
  • Other Duties: Support additional quality‑related tasks as required by the department.
What do we need from you:
  • Engineering Background: Completed a formal engineering apprenticeship, hold a relevant engineering degree, or possess equivalent experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, and calibration processes.
  • Metrology Equipment: Comprehensive understanding of a range of manual and semi‑automated metrology (measuring) equipment.
  • ISO9001 Experience: Demonstrable experience working within an ISO9001 quality management environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and a process‑driven approach to all tasks.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactive and motivated to contribute to ongoing quality and process improvements.
  • Right to live and work full time in the UK – and easily work fully in Berkhamsted.
