Job description
Senior Quality Engineer – Automotive

A senior quality engineer is sought by a leading engineering & manufacturing business that has won significant new programmes with automotive OEM customers.

Location

West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Wednesbury, Dudley, West Bromwich, Aldridge areas).

Duties
  • Co‑ordinating and controlling investigation of Customer/Supplier complaints to enable a full understanding of the real root cause failure and corrective actions.
  • Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of any corrective actions taken to eliminate Supplier or Customer complaints.
  • Accountable for all line quality issues – containment, corrective action, risk assessment and problem resolution.
  • Continuous monitoring of the manufacturing processes by audits, statistical analysis or any other relevant technique to support continuous improvement.
  • Providing guidance to the shop floor staff on Quality Assurance and cost saving techniques.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Apprentice trained, HNC or Degree in an engineering or technical discipline.
  • Ability to liaise with and manage OEM customer and supplier expectations.
  • Structured problem solving skills – 8D, 5Y, A3, PPS.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Familiar with volume manufacturing processes.
  • Internal auditor experience – IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 desirable.
  • Proven ability to use quality tools such as PPAP, Control Plans, MSA and PFMEA.
