Job summary

A leading financial services firm in Scotland is seeking a Qualified Accountant for a full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will lead a transactional team, prepare monthly management accounts, and manage sales and purchase ledgers. Candidates must hold ACCA, CIMA, or similar qualifications, have experience managing a finance team, and be comfortable with cloud-based accounting systems. This role is fully site-based and requires advanced Excel skills for effective financial analysis.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant with ACCA, CIMA, or Chartered Accountant certification.
  • Experience in hands-on finance role in a small, commercially-focused business.
  • Proven record managing a small finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transactional team and support their development.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reports.
  • Manage all aspects of accruals, prepayments, and journals.
  • Oversee sales and purchase ledgers including invoicing.
  • Produce weekly cash flow forecasts and assist budgeting.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT submissions and support audits.

Job description

We're partnering with an established business in West Lothian to recruit a Qualified Accountant on a full time, permanent basis. The role is fully site based. We are looking for candidates within a maximum notice period of one month.

Reporting to the CEO and Founder, it's a hands-on post that covers day to day accounting, reporting, and business partnering within a busy SME in the fast paced service sector.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the transactional team including recruitment, training, one to ones, and daily support
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and produce Board reports with detailed variance analysis
  • Manage accruals, prepayments, journals, and contract revenue accounting
  • Oversee sales and purchase ledgers including invoicing and supplier payments
  • Produce weekly cash flow forecasts and support budgeting and forecasting
  • Extract data from accounting systems for contract reviews and margin analysis
  • Prepare quarterly VAT submissions and support year end audit and statutory reporting
What you'll need
  • ACCA, CIMA, or Chartered Accountant
  • Background in a similar hands-on and varied finance role within a small, growing, commercially focused business
  • Experience managing a small finance team
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with a Founder led business to support commercial decisions
  • Comfortable using multiple cloud based accounting systems
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical ability and a high level of accuracy
