Overview

Role: Youth Worker/TA - Ardwick

Location: Ardwick, M16

Prospero Teaching are working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Ardwick. The school supports students with additional needs and mental health issues.

Responsibilities
  • Provide mentoring and pastoral support to pupils aged 11–16 (KS3/KS4) with EHCP plans and additional needs.
  • Build connections with pupils and act as a mentor and role model in a classroom-based setting.
  • Engage pupils who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or chaotic home lives by forging strong relationships and using mentoring skills (similar to sports, drama, or counselling).
  • Utilise a strong TA or tutoring background with students from PRUs or SEMH schools; drive and have access to your own car for this role.
  • Explore opportunities for contract extension or a permanent position based on performance.
Contract/Position Details
  • Type of work: Outreach / Youth Work

  • Duration: Full academic year
  • Contract type: Temporary to Permanent
  • Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday (term time only)
  • Minimum pay: GBP 108 per day
Experience, Training and Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar setting (SEMH/PRU)
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent and above (preferable)
  • GCSE Maths and English; computer literate
Eligibility (through Prospero Teaching)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS certificate with Online Update Service (or willingness to process a new application)
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years
