A leading UK university seeks a Professor of Marine Technology, focusing on interdisciplinary research in marine science, robotics, and AI. The University of Plymouth seeks to appoint a Professor of Marine Technology and Autonomy, to help drive and expand our new cross disciplinary research centre, CMAST, the Centre for Marine Autonomy, Maritime Cyber‑Security and Technology.

Plymouth is the UK’s National Centre for Marine Autonomy (NCMA) and home to pioneering initiatives such as Smart Sound, NCCA, and the FAST cluster. CMAST will accelerate innovation in marine technology, digital systems, and maritime cyber security, aligning with the UK’s Strategic Defence Review and Net Zero Maritime ambitions.

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on‑site will be expected due to business needs.
This is a full‑time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.
Interviews are anticipated to take place mid‑January 2026.
