Job Description

About us

At Technip Energies, we believe in a better tomorrow and we can make tomorrow better. With approximately 15,000 talented people, we are a global engineering and technology company focused on accelerating the energy transition. Genesis Energies is a global business unit of Technip Energies, providing independent advisory services for the energy industry. We have a track record of delivering high-impact solutions in partnership with clients while promoting sustainable, robust solutions. Our team spans 15 countries and includes engineers, specialists, project managers, and support staff who thrive in a dynamic, proactive environment with a strong sense of environmental responsibility.

If you share our determination to drive the transition to a low-carbon future, this could be the job for you. We offer an inspiring journey in a global environment where collaboration, creativity, and pioneer spirit drive our people.

What we are looking for

The Genesis environmental advisory team is growing across the energy sector. The successful candidate will support a range of energy projects with a focus on environmental impact assessment in the marine environment, including oil and gas developments, decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, and renewable energy. We seek a candidate with demonstrable experience related to the offshore energy industry and a drive to support our continued growth.

Due to a busy and diverse portfolio, we require professionals with a deep understanding of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process and an interest in applying this to offshore projects and operations in the context of environmental protection. You will provide leadership to study teams with a focus on EIA in the marine environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental & Sustainability Team within Genesis, supporting a wide range of clients on varied projects in the energy sector. You will also engage with the wider Genesis organization through collaboration with other discipline teams to provide environmental inputs on a variety of projects for public and private clients in the UK and overseas.

  • Leading and executing comprehensive environmental studies related to offshore energy developments and decommissioning projects from early stage screening and risk assessment through to full-scale Environmental Impact Assessment and to supporting consenting.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the quality of deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and regional permitting standards.
  • Engaging with regulatory authorities, maritime agencies, and environmental NGOs to facilitate project approvals and address environmental concerns.
  • Supporting project teams in integrating environmental considerations into offshore design, construction, and operation phases.
  • Project management of deliverables, including acting as client focal point.
  • Writing tenders in response to requests for proposals and supporting the continued growth of offshore energy capabilities.
  • Staying informed on evolving offshore environmental regulations, industry best practices, and emerging environmental issues.
  • Mentoring responsibilities for junior staff on a project level.

Our team supports a wide range of environmental studies and assessments, offering development paths for individuals to expand skills and knowledge. The team carries a diverse project portfolio and encourages team members to broaden competencies beyond their core role.

Required Skills

The successful applicant must:

  • Have a degree in a relevant science or environmental subject, ideally including a marine aspect.
  • Hold experience in a similar role including EIA-specific experience.
  • Have experience of writing EIAs for energy-related projects.
  • Have project management experience on small to medium projects.
  • Have knowledge of offshore energy development within the UK and the associated environmental legislation.
  • Have excellent written skills with attention to detail and the ability to clearly inform readers about complex projects.
  • Be a strong team player.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines.
Attributes

The successful applicant may:

  • Have experience in proposal writing.
  • Have familiarity with GIS and environmental modelling tools.
  • Have experience with stakeholder engagement, specifically public consultations.
  • Have professional certifications such as IEMA, IECA, or equivalent.
  • Have specific experience and/or knowledge of renewable offshore energy technologies such as offshore wind.

It is essential that applicants have the right to work in the UK.
