This role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing PHP applications, with a focus on API integration and collaborative teamwork. The ideal candidate should have strong commercial PHP experience, familiarity with frameworks like Laravel or Symfony, and solid database design skills. The position is based in London, requiring one day a week on-site.

Overview

PHP Developer - 6 Months - Outside IR35 - 1 Day a week in London - £400-£450p/d

Akkodis Group have been exclusively retained by a large end-user organisation undergoing a major digital transformation. They require an experienced PHP Developer to join their in-house development team on a contract basis.

You will be working on the design, development, and optimisation of PHP-based applications, ensuring seamless integration with core business systems and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance PHP applications across web and enterprise environments
  • Build and consume APIs (REST/JSON, SOAP) for integrations with third-party and internal systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, business analysts, and testers
  • Optimise application performance, scalability, and security
  • Deliver clean, well-documented code in line with coding standards
  • Support UAT and provide production fixes when required
Key Skills Required
  • Strong commercial PHP development experience (7.x/8.x)
  • Expertise with frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony
  • Solid understanding of MySQL/MariaDB and database design principles
