Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and motivated individual to join our busy and dynamic pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Dispensary Assistant.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the safe and effective running of our dispensary. You will be responsible for supervising and training other dispensary assistants, acting as a positive role model, and ensuring the smooth delivery of day-to-day operations.

We are seeking someone who is highly organised, able to work under pressure, and demonstrates excellent attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder supports the Lead Pharmacy Technician in the management of the dispensary assistants. This will include:

  • Management of sickness, absence and poor/under-performing of assistants
  • Supervision and training of pharmacy assistants in reception, receipt and storage of stock, labelling and dispensing of medication
  • Supervision and delegation of assistants and their duties
  • Review and updating relevant procedures

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent, to include English and Mathematics
  • NVQ 2
  • Willing to undertake the Medicines Optimisation training (POD Assessment and Transcribing modules) if not already accredited.

Experience

  • Previous experience of working on a reception in a busy environment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience of order, receipt and storage of goods
  • Desirable criteria: Basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals
  • Knowledge in over the counter sales
  • Previous dispensing experience

Skills & Knowledge

  • Understanding of Customer Care
