Job description
People Business Partner

Cegal is growing to become a leading global technology powerhouse for the energy industry, on an ambitious journey to scale in the UK and globally.

As our new People Business Partner, you will play a key role in shaping employee experience, supporting our leaders, and enabling our organisation through a period of significant growth and change.

This is a unique opportunity to be a fundamental part of our growth journey. You will work directly with the UK Managing Director and leadership team, while reporting into our Team Lead Employee Experience & Analytics based in Norway, collaborating closely across countries and functions.

About the role

Based in our London or Aberdeen office, you will serve as the primary People Business Partner for our UK organization, supporting its expansion into the Netherlands and Africa. In this role you’ll work closely with teams in London and Aberdeen, as well as collaborate with colleagues from a wide range of countries and backgrounds. You’ll balance hands‑on HR delivery with strategic partnership, ensuring excellent employee experience while supporting a fast‑moving, transforming business.

You’ll thrive here if you enjoy working in a dynamic, international environment, are comfortable challenging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, and see yourself as a proactive change agent.

Key responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle & People Operations
  • Provide end‑to‑end support across the full employee lifecycle (onboarding, transfers, promotions, offboarding, and organisational changes).
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation, including the Employee Handbook and local policies.
  • Ensure all HR processes and decisions comply with UK employment law.
  • Use HR systems (SAP SuccessFactors or similar) to manage data, workflows and reporting.
  • Leverage People Analytics to produce reports, interpret HR metrics, and provide data‑driven insights that support decision‑making and workforce planning.
Strategic Partner to the Business
  • Serve as a strategic People Experience partner in complex scenarios, including restructuring, M&A and broader organisational change.
  • Collaborate with the UK Managing Director, UK leadership team and global People Experience colleagues to drive engagement, performance and continuous improvement.
  • Play a key role in shaping and delivering the UK People & Culture agenda in close partnership with local leadership.
  • Align with and report to the global People Experience team to ensure coherent application of global frameworks at the local level.
  • Build strong cross‑country and cross‑functional relationships, supporting a cohesive and consistent people experience across the organisation.
Culture, Development, Values & Change
  • Support the rollout and embedding of new company values in the UK, translating them into behaviours, ways of working and people practices.
  • Partner with leaders to build a strong, inclusive culture that aligns with our global ambitions and local needs.
  • Champion change initiatives, helping teams navigate transformation with clarity, resilience and a growth mindset.
  • Proactively challenge and coach leaders and colleagues where needed, always with the intention of improving outcomes and strengthening our culture.
  • Identify and address training and development needs across the UK.
About you

You are a confident, hands‑on People/HR Business Partner who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels in a fast‑paced, global environment.

We imagine you bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a People Partner / HR Business Partner / HR Generalist role within a global, multi‑matrix organisation.
  • Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience supporting organisational change, such as restructuring, integrations or M&A.
  • Solid experience with HRIS (SAP SuccessFactors or similar) and a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders constructively.
  • Experience working with colleagues from different countries, cultures and professional backgrounds.
  • A flexible, dynamic and resilient approach – you are comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt as the business evolves.
  • An interest in technology and/or energy and curiosity to understand our products, services and customers.
Preferred (but not required):
  • CIPD Level 5 – HR generalist with established experience, or
  • CIPD Level 7 – strategic HR professional.
