Overview
We are seeking a proactive People Advisor to provide hands-on HR support across Aftermarket Operations and Engine Overhaul Services team. Working alongside two People Partners and wider HR colleagues, you will act as the first point of contact for local HR support where business context, face-to-face interaction, or sensitive case handling is required. This role blends core HR operational delivery with a strong focus on absence and performance management, while also contributing to wider engagement, change and workforce initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for HR queries, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practice.
- Partner with leaders to resolve employee concerns beyond GBS remit, including sensitive and complex cases.
- Champion employee advocacy, well-being, and engagement, ensuring a positive workplace environment.
- Support in a unionised environment, ensuring compliance with consultation and information processes.
- Lead absence management cases, ensuring leaders follow policies and employees are supported throughout the process.
- Handle sensitive cases (e.g. long-term illness, bereavement, mental health concerns) with empathy and discretion.
- Drive well-being initiatives, promote awareness on mental health, and provide guidance to leaders.
- Support leaders in implementing performance improvement plans (PIPs).
- Act as a neutral mediator during meetings, ensuring fair and consistent treatment.
- Provide technical process guidance and challenge leaders respectfully where required.
- Support deployment of HR processes such as performance management, reward review, role grading, engagement surveys, and D&I plans.
- Maintain accurate data and ensure compliance with HR approvals and notification procedures.
- Partner with GBS, Case Specialists, and other HR teams to deliver efficient and consistent HR services.
- Undertake transactional HR and reporting tasks where required.
- Support People Partners with local engagement initiatives, workshops, and projects, such as assisting in preparing materials, driving participation, and supporting organisational change and communications. Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, and learning needs identification.
Qualifications
- Strong HR operational experience with good knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Experienced in absence and performance management casework.
- Background in a shared services and/or HR partnering model.
- Skilled at working in unionised environments.
- Strong IT literacy (HR systems, Excel, reporting tools); Workday experience desirable.
- Excellent people skills with empathy, emotional intelligence, and resilience when handling sensitive cases.
- Ability to influence and challenge leaders constructively while maintaining strong relationships.
- Experience supporting change management and using project management principles.
