Job Description

Highland Hospital a 261 bed community teaching hospital and affiliate of the University Of Rochester Medical Center is recruiting for experienced Patient Care Techs to join our team. Qualified candidates must be able to work rotating day/evening/night shifts, including every other weekend and 50% of the holidays on a full or part time basis. Position does require a 4 to 5 week orientation where you must be able to work any day / any shift.

The Patient Care Technician 2 (PCT 2) will support and provide direct patient care on the nursing unit. The PCT plays an integral role in the physical and emotional comfort of patients and their families. The PCT provides direct patient care and completes other tasks to support patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Essential Duties
  • Measure and document patient vital signs.
  • Maintain, measure, and document output from drainage systems (urinary, gastric, wound).
  • Bath, toilet, and groom patients.
  • Position and turn patients.
  • Recognize, document, and report physical, behavioral, and mental changes in patients.
  • Re-stock and maintain unit patient care supplies.
  • Patient and specimen transport.
  • Precept new PCT's
  • Perform EKG's

Pay Range

$19.50 - $25.25

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements

Education: GED or High School Diploma required for all levels.

Experience: At least 1 year of healthcare experience providing direct personal care and interaction with patients in an acute care OR long term care setting required.
