Overview

Job Title: Part-Time CFO / Financial Controller

Location: Home-based with regular travel between Woking and York

Working Pattern: 2-3 days per week (flexible)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded CFO / Financial Controller to join the team on a part-time basis. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Board, this role will be instrumental in strengthening the financial capabilities as the business continues to grow.

The successful candidate will lead the transition of the accounts function in-house, implement robust financial processes, and establish clear management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. This is a high-impact role suited to someone with strong commercial acumen and the ability to operate strategically as well as hands-on.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the finance function, bringing accounts fully in-house.
  • Develop and deliver timely management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and board reports.
  • Work with the CEO and Board to provide financial insight, analysis, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Implement financial controls, processes, and reporting systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage cashflow, balance sheet, and P&L reporting.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Provide commercial input to support business growth initiatives and operational improvements.
Key Requirements
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working within an AIM-listed business is ideal.
  • Proven track record of setting up and managing financial systems and processes. Preferrably in an SME company.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to provide meaningful financial insights to senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with the CEO, Board, and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible and proactive approach, comfortable working both strategically and hands-on.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between Woking and York.
