Oncology Inpatients Staff Nurse - Band 5

You will work as part of a skilled and dedicated multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate individualised care plans that support the unique needs of oncology patients and their families. This role requires empathy, good communication, clinical competence and a commitment to professional development.

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality compassionate and safe nursing care to adult inpatients with cancer.

Job Title: Staff Nurse - Band 5
Department: Oncology Inpatients
Contract: Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours per week, rotational days, nights and weekends)
Salary: £40,491 - £51,113 (depending on experience)
Location: Duchess of Devonshire Wing, The London Clinic, Marylebone

Job responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment
  • Monitor and manage treatment‑related symptoms and side effects
  • Contribute to the assessment, planning and evaluation of care plans
  • Work under supervision of SACT‑trained nurses and progress towards achieving SACT competency
  • Support patients and families with empathy, professionalism and clear communication
  • Maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control
  • Participate in audits, reflective practice, and quality improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
  • Previous experience within an acute oncology or surgical ward environment is essential
  • Competent in IV administration or willingness to complete training
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A strong interest in oncology and commitment to continued learning and professional development
