Role

Occupational Health Advisor — Full-time. Covering the South of England with regular travel to sites. This role is crucial in promoting a safe and healthy workplace, supporting our wellbeing strategy, minimising the impact of illness and accidents, and ensuring compliance with occupational health legislation and best practices. This role will cover the south of England (sites such as Severnside, Bristol, Bridgwater and Hoddesdon) and other sites when required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Health and Safety and HR teams to develop strategies to reduce workplace injuries, occupational diseases and improve employee wellbeing.
  • Present independent and objective action plans to address H&S concerns.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders, including employee GPs, contracted OH physicians, and OH contractors.
  • Provide a consistent OH service across the UK & Ireland.
  • Conduct routine health surveillances and risk assessments.
  • Research and present action plans to ensure compliance with changing H&S practices and legislation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of workplace health management and wellbeing strategies.
  • Conduct post-placement health assessments.
  • Undertake management referrals, formulate rehabilitation programs with managers to ensure safe and sustained return to work for employees.
  • Raise awareness of good health management practices among employees and managers.
  • Inform, educate, and train individuals on protecting themselves from occupational hazards.
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with managers to improve H&S practices.
Key Requirements
  • Recognised First Level Nurse with an Occupational Health Specialist qualification (minimum Diploma in Occupational Health).
  • Experience within manufacturing, warehousing or drivers is beneficial.
  • Strong administration, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and understanding of H&S legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
  • Registered First Level Nurse with OH degree/diploma.
  • Computer literate with experience in Word, Excel, Email, and Adobe.
  • Knowledge of OH database use, preferably Cohort.
  • Ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
  • Self-motivated and solution-focused.
  • Full driving license
