Overview

Job Title: Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer (60/40 Split) – Location: Gloucester – Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum – Shift Pattern: Days (Monday to Friday) – Industry: Food Manufacturing / FMCG

We are currently seeking an Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and growing food manufacturing business based in Gloucester. This is a permanent days-based role, ideal for a skilled engineer looking to work in a modern, fast-paced production environment. This position offers an attractive salary of up to £47,000, and the opportunity to be part of a strong engineering team within a business that values continuous improvement, reliability, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production and packaging machinery.
  • Undertake mechanical maintenance tasks as needed (approx. 40% mechanical).
  • Ensure all engineering activities are conducted in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and optimise equipment efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and contribute to equipment upgrades and installations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Requirements
  • Time-served or qualified Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Strong electrical skills with a solid understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment is essential.
  • Competent with fault finding, diagnostics, and repair across a variety of electrical systems (PLCs, sensors, drives, motors, etc.).
  • Good understanding of health and safety standards within a food production setting.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
