Overview

Mechanical Construction Manager - Data Centre Project - Central London. £85,000 + Benefits. A leading UK contractor delivering large-scale mission-critical projects is seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to join a major data centre build in Central London. With a strong pipeline of hyperscale and technical projects, this business offers excellent career progression and long-term stability.

You will lead the on-site mechanical package through installation, testing, and handover—managing subcontractors, programme, quality, and safety, while working closely with the project delivery and MEP teams.

Responsibilities
  • Manage mechanical subcontractors across HVAC, pipework, and specialist systems
  • Coordinate all on-site mechanical activities with project and client teams
  • Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems
  • Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and safety plans
  • Monitor labour, progress, and programme milestones
  • Manage delivery, storage, and installation of plant and equipment
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and safety standards are achieved on site
  • Maintain strong client communication and reporting throughout the project
Candidate Requirements
  • Relevant mechanical qualification (BEng, HNC, NVQ, or similar)
  • Minimum 5 years\' experience in mechanical construction management
  • Background in data centres, pharma, cleanrooms, or other complex projects
  • Strong planning, coordination, and leadership skills
  • Proven track record managing subcontractor teams and multiple systems
  • Excellent knowledge of health, safety, and compliance requirements
  • Based in or able to commute to Central London
