Job description
Are you a hands-on leader with a strong mechanical engineering background?

We’re looking for an experienced Manufacturing & Engineering Manager to take full ownership of our production operations driving efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement across the factory.

This is a pivotal leadership position where you’ll combine technical expertise with strategic direction. You’ll lead day-to-day manufacturing and engineering activities, ensuring people, machinery, and systems all work together to deliver on production plans and performance targets. You’ll also take responsibility for the maintenance and reliability of machinery and facilities, while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily manufacturing operations, ensuring output meets plan and is accurately recorded in ERP systems
  • Monitor KPIs, address downtime, and report on performance
  • Motivate, mentor, and develop technicians and operators
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults quickly to minimise disruption
  • Oversee maintenance, facilities management, and tool room operations
  • Drive engineering projects, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage supplier relationships, service contracts, and capital investment planning
  • Support product development and re-engineering projects
About You

We’re looking for a proactive engineering leader who can combine hands-on problem-solving with big-picture thinking.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Strong mechanical engineering background with practical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience operating and maintaining factory machinery, including CNC equipment
  • Knowledge of facilities management and building maintenance
  • Proven leadership ability – motivating and developing teams
  • Excellent organisation, planning, and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods
  • CAD/CAM knowledge
  • Professional membership (e.g. IMechE or equivalent)

Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent)
