At Medical Law Services, we're looking for a Management Accountant who wants to do more than just keep the numbers in check — you’ll play a crucial role in strengthening the financial performance of one of our key subsidiaries and influencing how our finance function evolves.

Based in Southport or Liverpool with flexible hybrid working, this is a fantastic opportunity to own critical financial processes, collaborate with teams across the business, and contribute to meaningful change. Main Responsibilities
  • Own the Numbers: Manage and post banking transactions in Xero for our Medical Law pagination services.
  • Keep Things Moving: Monitor supplier accounts and ensure timely payments, working closely with the Head of Finance for approvals.
  • Be the Go‑To Expert: Support our billing clerk with queries, invoices, and credit notes.
  • Close with Confidence: Assist in month‑end processes including accruals, prepayments, and payroll journals.
  • Deliver Insight: Prepare P&L reports for AI, Client Care, and Onboarding teams to inform smarter decisions.
  • Stay Balanced: Perform accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Stay Compliant: Handle VAT and PAYE administration with precision.
  • Collaborate & Influence: Work with stakeholders across the business to improve processes and reporting.
  • Drive Change: Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency — your ideas matter here!
  • Adapt & Excel: Take on ad‑hoc projects that keep things fresh and challenging.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Active CIMA/ACCA or QBE
  • Forward thinking with an analytical approach when reviewing data
  • Advanced Excel skills (Match, Lookups, Sumifs, Pivot tables)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of Xero accounting software
  • Experience in legal sector advantageous but not essential.
