Job summary

A well-established recruitment business is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to lead the finance function and support the management team in Gateshead. The role involves ownership of monthly financial reporting, preparation of management accounts, and overseeing finance department development. Ideal candidates will possess strong accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a recognised accounting qualification or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

  • Holder of or working towards a recognised accounting qualification or QBE.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • IT literate with expertise in Excel and financial modelling.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of monthly MI reporting, comprising branch level Profit and Loss reports.
  • Preparation and submission of VAT Returns.
  • Management and development of finance department team members.
  • Support the external annual audit process.
  • Provide a finance-based approach to business decision making.

Management Accountant

Salary : 45,000 to 50,000

Location : Gateshead, Tyne & Wear

A well-established recruitment business, based in Gateshead, is seeking to recruit an experienced and commercially focused Management Accountant to lead the finance function and play a key role within the management team, as the business continues to expand and develop.

Key responsibilities
  • Ownership of monthly MI reporting, comprising branch level Profit and Loss reports, detailed sales and margin analysis and insight into variances against budgets and historic performance.
  • Responsibility for preparation of monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal posting and overhead analysis
  • Preparation and submission of VAT Returns.
  • Payroll RTI submissions.
  • Management, support and development of finance department team members in payroll, sales ledger and purchase ledger functions.
  • Supporting the external annual audit process.
  • Management of Invoice Discounting and Banking facilities.
  • Primary contact for internal and external stakeholder communication.
  • Taking an active role within the senior management team, providing a finance based approach to key business decision making processes.
Knowledge, skill and experience
  • Holder of or working towards a recognised accounting qualification or QBE.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • IT literate with expertise in Excel and financial modelling.
  • Familiarity with Sage 50 accounting software advantageous but not essential.
