Lung Clinical Nurse Specialist

Due to maternity leave an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Lung Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within the Lung Nurse Team until the end of March 2026.

This is a senior nursing role within the organisation and there is an expectation that the post holder will fully participate in the leadership and delivery of high quality patient care within the Division of Medicine whilst upholding the Trust's "We Care" values.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will promote clinical excellence through their practice in the specialty and the wider organisation and will work collaboratively in the multidisciplinary team to plan treatment and care of individual patients, whilst holding responsibility for their own caseload of patients.

The post holder will be supported to work in the established lung nurse led clinics to discuss results, diagnose and prognosis to patients and their relatives and provide expert advice and support to patients and carers from diagnosis and throughout the patient pathway. Liaising with the multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of care. Whilst working autonomously in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the individual patients care taking in to consideration physical, psychological and psychosocial requirements.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience involvement of working with respiratory patients.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and have capacity to be an excellent team player.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of patients and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to work independently, showing initiative and a desire to develop the service and initiate change.
  • Able to work in a logical and/or methodological manner
  • Ability to use various IT resources such as PAS systems, databases, referral processes and other forms of documentation and record keeping.
