Contract Type: Permanent– 45 hours per week
Location: Leicester
Shift: Nights / Monday-Friday / 20:00-06:00

About the role

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive, equipped to a high specification including fridges, leather seats and many more options to keep you comfortable. Most sites run Monday to Friday with a 45 hour working week and 9-hour shifts per day, typically starting at 5/6pm. Shift schedules are well organized so you often know in advance where you’ll be driving.

The role provides job security within a growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet, so there’s always work available. If you want additional hours, you can have them, with enhanced rates of pay for bank holidays. You’ll join a friendly team that supports each other, including sharing traffic updates via WhatsApp.

Key Role Responsibilities

• We don’t micromanage drivers; you’ll plan your own routes and trunk to regional hubs on the night shift. You’ll be out on the open road for long stretches and be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.
• Ensure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers on time. Some sites will load/unload for you; at others you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks may be part of your day.
• Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
• Ensure everything is “right first time” for internal and external customers; communicate effectively and escalate queries to your site manager when needed.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum
• Driver CPC qualification card
• Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and a commitment to safe road use
• A can-do attitude
