Job description

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer to join a well‑established manufacturing organisation and afford the flexibility to support both ongoing production issues and be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements using lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste and improve quality throughout their UK facilities.

Process Improvement/ Lean Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: c£45,000 + company car or car allowance

Location:> West Midlands (UK travel)

Tasked with developing and implementing continuous improvement strategies in both manufacturing and company processes, you will collaborate with the operational & engineering team to perform DMAIC activities to eliminate inefficiencies across the business and provide technical guidance to enhance production quality and efficiency. You will monitor and analyse KPI's to identify areas for improvement and take corrective action where needed, driving Lean Manufacturing initiatives to optimise operations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse and improve manufacturing processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and industrial engineering techniques such as kaizen, line balancing, and value stream mapping.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives targeting quality, productivity, and Right First Time (RFT) outcomes.
  • Drive the industrialisation of NPI, including tooling, work instructions, and validation plans.
  • Define and maintain robust process controls, routings, and SOPs.
  • Provide technical training to production teams and monitor KPIs to drive improvements.
About You
  • Applications are sought from experienced Continuous Improvement Engineers or Lean Manufacturing Engineers with a proven record of delivering lean process improvement in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate competence utilizing lean manufacturing processes and methodologies (process capability (Cp, Cpk), SPC, DMAIC Six Sigma, 5S, PDCA, Kaizen).
  • Qualified to HND / Degree level (or equivalent) in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. Formal lean manufacturing or Six Sigma training would be desirable.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills from shop floor to senior management.
  • Able to define areas for improvement, measure/collect and analyse data, determine root cause, select and implement solutions, and achieve sustained outcomes.
  • Results- and data-driven with the ability to improve and sustain change within a continuous improvement-focused environment.
  • Full driving licence and able to travel to UK facilities, staying overnight as appropriate.
