Job description

Bennett and Game are currently working a heavy civil engineering contractor that deliver high-quality civil engineering, infrastructure and water-management projects in challenging environments. They pride themselves on their commitment to excellence, safety, sustainability and professional development, supporting their teams to grow and excel on some of the UK's most impactful and complex engineering projects.

Due to continue growth they are looking to bring on a Junior Site Engineer. You'll work alongside their Senior Site Engineer and Site Engineer to support the delivery of projects across marine, flood defence, water or infrastructure work-streams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out setting out, surveying and monitoring activities, including movement, vibration, noise and material compliance.
  • Maintain and check survey equipment calibration and ensure reference points are protected.
  • Inspect and record works prior to cover-up and at key construction stages.
  • Review drawings, identify amendments or variances and raise these with the Site Manager.
  • Highlight programme risks, sequencing issues and technical queries.
  • Maintain quality, environmental and safety records, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Support accident and incident reporting in line with company guidelines.
  • Order materials, measure quantities, coordinate deliveries and track material usage and waste.
  • Monitor plant and equipment requirements and utilisation.
  • Assist the Site Manager with site returns and quality documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings and briefings.
  • Maintain competence, promote a safe working environment, and support continuous professional development.
Requirements
  • HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or actively working towards IEng/Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
  • Familiarity with surveying and setting-out - experience with total stations, GPS systems, and surveying methods.
  • Basic CAD skills; knowledge of survey-related AutoDesk software desirable.
  • Full driving licence and valid CSCS card.
  • Commitment to site-based work and working on-site for water, marine or infrastructure-type projects.
  • Demonstrable desire to learn, grow professionally, and contribute positively to site safety, environment and quality culture.
