Junior Civil Engineer Job Overview
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments to support planning applications
- Produce drainage strategies and surface water management plans in line with UK SuDS
- Work on a broad range of projects from single residential extensions to large housing schemes of up to 400 units
- Assess planning requirements and propose appropriate mitigation measures
- Support residential and commercial developments including conversions and padel court schemes
- Use Causeway software for drainage and flood risk assessments
- Work closely with senior engineers and the Director, receiving structured training and technical support
- Operate in a fully remote, flexible working environment with no timesheets or set hours
Job Title Job Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months post‑university relevant experience within civil engineering, drainage, flood risk or hydrology
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Some experience or exposure to Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies or surface water management
- Basic understanding of UK SuDS and planning requirements
- Experience using drainage or flood risk software such as Causeway beneficial (not a must)
- Strong written communication skills for producing technical reports
- Willingness to learn and develop within a specialist planning‑led environment
- Comfortable working remotely with good time management and self‑organisation skills
- Comfortable commuting to Cheshire office when required, mostly monthly
