Job Description

The Senior Legal Counsel will be:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex construction, refurbishment and services contracts (including standard forms such as JCT, NEC etc.)
  • Advising on tenders, variations and operational matters across P&C projects
  • Providing legal input into governance of transactions at both division and group level
  • Collaborating closely with business development, commercial, operational and senior management teams
  • Managing external legal advisers as required; overseeing cost, quality and delivery of their work
  • Supporting compliance with legal/regulatory requirements and public procurement rules
  • Assisting in training and capability building across commercial/legal stakeholders
The Successful Applicant

The Senior Legal Counsel should be:

  • A UK‑qualified solicitor or barrister (or equivalent common law qualification) with 3‑6 years post‑qualification experience (flexible for excellent candidates)
  • Experienced with UK construction contractual frameworks and standard forms, particularly JCT and NEC
  • Comfortable with public procurement matters (preferred)
  • Able to work in‑house, dealing practically & commercially, balancing legal risk with business needs
  • Strong communicator, negotiator and able to work cross‑functionally
