An opportunity has arisen with a police force for a part-time Identification Officer responsible for managing all aspects of identification functions within legal frameworks. The role involves liaising with various stakeholders, compiling cases for court, and providing expert guidance on identification procedures. A successful candidate should have a solid background in law, effective communication skills, and be proficient in using photographic equipment and technology.

To initiate, manage and administer all aspects of identification functions required for evidential purposes in accordance with the statutory requirements under PACE. To act as a single point of contact, providing specialist advice and guidance in this area of business.
Main responsibilities:
To make arrangements for and carry out the required identification procedures
in accordance with legislation.
Liaising with PACE inspector, witnesses, solicitors, justice colleagues and officers.
Identifying, arranging and setting up suitable venues, compiling requisite material and managing identification procedures.
To build still and moving image identification parades through the use of purpose built software. To access and use other sources of images and date to facilitate in the preparation of identification procedures, such as Athena.
Complete administrative procedures including but not limited to completion of personal and witness statements, dealing with property, maintaining an ID calendar shared with management, emails and communication with officers.
Present evidence in court and at other hearings as and when required.
To provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues, including covering for abstraction and training of staff to enable image capture.
To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post as required.
