HSE / Health & Safety Manager Energy From Waste Construction Project

Location: Tilbury (Site–Based)

Remuneration/Salary: Circa GBP65K + Car Allowance & Additional Benefits

About the Company

Our client is a leading specialist within the roofing, cladding and building–envelope sector, with decades of experience delivering complex industrial, energy and infrastructure schemes across the UK. Their core expertise includes single–ply systems, large–scale composite cladding installation, rainscreen fa??ades, fire–wall construction and full envelope delivery on live, high–risk construction environments. They are known for strong safety culture, programme reliability and hands–on technical understanding of high–value energy projects.

The Role

This position will take full responsibility site–based HSE management on a large Energy–From–Waste project. Installation works include single–ply roof systems, approximately 14,000 composite panels, fire–wall construction and multiple high–risk work areas. There will be an onsite administrator to support, however the HSE Manager must be able to review, amend and lead implementation of important H&S documentation where required (RAMS etc).

Key responsibilities include:
  • Daily presence on site, proactively identifying risks and improvement opportunities
  • Safety leadership across up to 60 operatives at peak programme delivery
  • Reviewing, updating and managing RAMS and method statements
  • Conducting site audits, inspections, safety walks and toolbox talks
  • Attending contractor–led coordination meetings twice daily (7:30am and 4:00pm)
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, codes, standards and documentation requirements
  • Working closely with subcontractors, site management, and client HSE teams to maintain best–in–class safety performance
The Ideal Candidate

We re looking for a visible, proactive safety professional who is confident out on site, able to influence behaviour and ensure compliance without slowing the programme. This isn t a desk based H&S role, so candidates will need to be able to demonstrate through the recruitment process experience of proactive working within a similar role.

Minimum requirements
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar HSE position on large construction projects
  • HSE qualification such as NEBOSH Certificate, SCC–Doc 17 Certificate, or equivalent (German safety specialist SIFA will also be considered)
  • Fully knowledgeable on all relevant legislation, regulations, codes and standards
Additionally, you will be:
  • Experienced in industrial or energy construction environments
  • Familiar with roofing, fa??ade, cladding or steelwork packages (desirable)
  • Strong in communication, documentation management and RAMS process control
  • Capable of influencing subcontractors and leading a positive safety culture onsite
