Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Housing Officer to join the team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties, supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant housing legislation and organisational policies.

This role will suit someone with strong tenancy management experience who can work independently and deliver a professional, resident-focused service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of tenancies across a defined patch, ensuring effective day-to-day tenancy management.
  • Act as the main point of contact for tenants, handling queries, tenancy issues, and providing advice and support.
  • Conduct regular estate and property inspections, identifying and addressing maintenance or tenancy concerns.
  • Support residents to sustain their tenancies, including rent arrears prevention, income management, and referrals to support services.
  • Investigate and resolve cases of anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with contractors and internal maintenance teams to ensure timely resolution of repair requests.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tenancy records and prepare reports as required.
  • Ensure full compliance with housing law, safeguarding standards, and data protection regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies, and community organisations to deliver high-quality housing services.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Housing Officer, Tenancy Officer, or similar role within a housing association or local authority.
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management, and rent recovery processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage a busy workload with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in housing management IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred (for property visits).
  • Availability to start in October 2025 and commit to the 6-month contract.
Contract Details

Location: On-site in Manchester, with some flexibility for remote working by agreement.

Duration: 6 months (potential for extension based on project needs).

Rate: £27 per hour (umbrella or PAYE equivalent)
