Overview

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Enhanced Role

Location: Kettering Area, Northamptonshire
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Working Hours: 19.5 hours per week (3 days), Term Time + Training Days
Salary: NJC Grade G (Point 8 12) approximately £13.90 per hour (pro rata)

The School and Role

We are seeking a proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a forward-thinking, Good -rated primary school renowned for its positive staff morale and commitment to wellbeing. In this role, you will:

  • Cover PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) time

  • Lead interventions and support teaching staff

  • Support subject coordinators and enhance lesson delivery

  • Potentially work towards completing your HLTA qualification if not already qualified

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Either a formal HLTA qualification or significant experience and readiness to train

  • Experience delivering whole-class teaching and small-group interventions

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Strong communication skills with pupils, parents, and colleagues

  • GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths

  • A commitment to raising pupil achievement and creating an engaging learning environment

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
