Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Greenwich - Mainstream Secondary

Location: Greenwich
Contract Type: Full-Time, temporary to permanent
Day rate: £110 - £130 per day

Role Overview:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a crucial role in supporting the teaching staff and enhancing the learning experience of students. You will work closely with teachers to plan and deliver high-quality learning activities, provide targeted support to students, and contribute to the overall development of the school community in the heart of Greenwich.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons, ensuring a high standard of education.
  • Support individual and small groups of students with their learning needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and create a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support students with additional needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of school policies and practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is essential.
  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational role is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
