Job summary

A reputable logistics company in Yeadon is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to maintain and repair their fleet of vehicles. The role is crucial for ensuring that all vehicles meet safety and performance standards. The ideal candidate will have a qualification in HGV maintenance, at least 3 years of experience, and excellent fault-finding skills. The role offers a competitive salary and is primarily day shifts from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as an HGV Mechanic in a fleet environment.
  • Large Goods Vehicle experience is essential.
  • Class 1 or Class 2 is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a mixed fleet of vehicles to DVSA standards.
  • Conduct vehicle and trailer inspections.
  • Prepare for MOT to DVSA standards.

Overview

HGV Technician

Location: LS19

Day shifts: Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm or 6am - 4pm - 50 hours per week

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per year

About your new HGV Technician role

My client is a well-established and family-owned logistics business who have been operating for over 25 years. The successful HGV Technician will report to the Transport Manager and will be responsible for maintaining VLT\'s HGVs and enhancing the performance of their modern vehicle fleet. As an integral part of their operation, you will also be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.

Responsibilities
  • You will maintain our mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles and trailers to the highest standard and in line with DVSA requirements
  • Vehicle and Trailer inspections
  • MOT preparation to DVSA standards
  • Brake testing at every inspection
  • Fault finding and repairs
  • Use of diagnostic equipment
Qualifications
  • Qualification in City and Guilds HGV Part 1, 2 & 3 or NVQ level 3 equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as an HGV Mechanic (post qualification) preferably within a fleet environment
  • Large Goods Vehicle experience is essential
  • Class 1 or Class 2 is Desirable
