Job description

Overview

The Blood Sciences Department at the Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust currently has vacancies for Healthcare Science Support Workers (HSSW) – Band 2.

The role includes working as part of a team of other staff within the Blood Sciences specimen reception.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high pressured environment taking receipt of large volumes of laboratory specimens.
• Check and examine electronic and paper requests and transfer requests onto the Laboratory Information System in preparation for sample analysis.
• Rostered into the laboratory department as part of a team of Band 2 staff, carrying out technical, clerical and administrative duties on both Wirral University Teaching Hospital sites - Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge hospitals

Working pattern / Requirements

It is essential that you have the ability to work flexibly between the hours of 07:00 and 21:00, inclusive of Saturday and Sunday and Bank Holiday, on rotation.
