Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team within iCaSH Bedfordshire working at Grove View in Dunstable. You will be working within our multi-disciplinary team including clinical and Outreach and the rotational Saturday at Kings Brook.

The post holder will support the delivery of healthcare for patients attending the integrated contraception and sexual health (iCaSH) service which is part of Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS). This may include supporting patients who present with sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, contraception requirements and/or any other sexual health related problems.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (Monday 12-8pm, Wednesday 10-6pm and Thursday 8-4pm). Role is based at the Grove View site but will work a Saturday on a rotational basis at Kings Brook site. Training will take place at Grove View and Kings Brook. You must be able to get to both sites.

Responsibilities
  • Provide information to patients attending the department and those diagnosed with an STI/HIV or who require contraception advice, risk reduction advice and condom demonstration.
  • Following training, act as a chaperone and assist nurses/doctors to undertake intimate examinations/procedures and/or sexual health screening on patients.
  • Following training, provide a phlebotomy service for patients attending the services.
  • Participate in outreach and support health promotion events when requested.
  • Undertake non-clinical duties in support of the admin team (e.g., call taking and reception cover including 0300 number answering, registering patients and booking, supporting data collection and general administration).
  • Read and interpret microscopy slides as directed by clinicians and document and communicate findings (if required by the clinical service).
  • Hold the Care Certificate and deliver the associated standards of care or undertake the training at the earliest opportunity upon recruitment to post.
  • welcome patients and obtain relevant personal and clinical details as appropriate while treating all information as confidential.
  • Demonstrate non-judgemental approach to all client groups regardless of age/ethnicity/religion.
  • To participate in outreach and support health promotion events when requested.
  • Maintain privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and ensure the patient is well looked after.
