Job description

Role: Healthcare Assistant
Location: Bournemouth
Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Shift times: Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
Salary – £26,052 to £27,513 depending on experience

We’re looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive Primary Care Team at our clinic in Bournemouth. There is always the possibility that this role could go permanent as our primary care service continues to expand.

As a Healthcare Assistant you’ll support GPs in delivering patient medicals and GP consultations, by administering health function tests.Our Healthcare Assistants are also responsible for the day to day clinical governance tasks.

This is a really interesting role as you will be able to use your skills to carry out a range of clinical duties including:
Perform routine health assessments, including blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol checks.

Conduct electrocardiograms (ECGs) and other cardiac tests.

Phlebotomy procedures, collecting blood samples for laboratory analysis.

Respiratory function tests (spirometry).

Perform audiology

Eye tests.

Carry out drug and alcohol screening, including Chain of Custody urine testing.

Assist with mobility and posture assessments.

Urinalysis to screen for metabolic and systemic conditions.

Record essential patient health measurements, such as height, weight, BMI, and hydration levels.

Simple wound dressings to include removal of sutures and clips, application of simple dressings

What you'll do
Provide emotional and practical support to patients throughout their clinical experience.

Gain valid informed consent for assessment and treatment interventions in line with national and local policy.

Apply infection control measures within the practice according to local and national guidelines.

Chaperone as required

Report Variances in patient’s condition immediately to a relevant professional.

Liaise with clients and when appropriate discuss the results of the test carried out.

Stock checks, ordering and reconcile deliveries.

Maintain patient records

What you'll bring
Previous direct patient care experience within a healthcare setting

Ability to provide good quality care

Care certificate (or working towards)

NVQ level 2 in "Health and Social Care" or RQF Diploma in "Care"

Minimum Level 2 Safeguarding Course

Awareness of the need to focus on continuous quality improvement

Willingness to learn and a warm and friendly personality
