Job Title: Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Kirkby, Merseyside (site travel required)
Salary: 38–40K, depending on experience
Contract: Full–time, Permanent

About the Role:
My client is seeking a proactive and capable Health & Safety Advisor to support the ongoing development and implementation of health and safety practices across a variety of civil engineering and groundworks projects. This position reports to the Health & Safety Manager and will play a key role in helping to ensure our sites remain compliant, safe, and aligned with both company and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits and site inspections to ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Prepare audit reports, communicate findings, and track close–out actions.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents; identify trends and propose preventative measures.
  • Support the H&S Manager with the implementation of company policies and procedures.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and H&S communications on site.
  • Provide practical, technical health and safety advice across multiple projects.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements, providing guidance where required.
  • Assist with project mobilisation by helping prepare H&S documentation and practical controls.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work flexibly and autonomously across multiple sites, predominantly in North–West England and North Wales.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 3 years experience in a health and safety role.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (desirable). NEBOSH general accepted.
  • CSCS card (essential).
  • IOSH membership or equivalent (desirable).
  • Proven experience in construction or civil engineering environments.
  • Competence in risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Organised, deadline–driven and adaptable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, word, PowerPoint .
  • Full UK driving licence required.
